More about our Governing Body

Mr. A Mason – Foundation Governor and Chair of the Governing Body

I have a long and happy association with St. Elizabeth’s as my mother taught here for many years and was on the schools first staff team. Indeed, as a youngster, I recall her dragging me round the building site in the mid-1960s so she could see where her new classroom was emerging. While I attended – the now demolished – St John’s School in The Leys, all three of my sons attended St Elizabeth’s and then went on to St Francis of Assisi in Aldridge. I live in the school’s second Parish – Haunton – and I’m proud of our long and deep links with both our Parishes. I have chaired St Elizabeth’s governing body now for more than four years and see my role as both to support and challenge the co-headteachers and senior leaders as they manage the school day to day.

Mr. J Hutton – Local Authority Governor (July 2018)

My name is Jason Hutton and I am one of the Parent Governors at St Elizabeth’s School. I have two daughters who attended St Elizabeth’s before moving onto High School and my wife is a Teaching Assistant at the school. I am a Production Manager for a company that provides rail solutions for mining, tunneling and mainline applications in the UK and overseas. Having been in management in various positions for over 20 years, I have been lucky to have extensively travelled and seen and experienced other cultures and religions and I have a greater understanding and respect from doing this.

I feel it a priviledge to have been elected as a parent governor and look forward to the challenges ahead and I am motivated to keep St Elizabeth’s one of Staffordshire County’s leading Primary Schools.

Mr. Ian D. Hamilton - Foundation Governor (March 2015)

I have been involved with St. Elizabeth's since March 2015 and feel privileged to be involved in such a wonderful school which promotes a stimulating, vibrant, safe and happy environment for pupil learning thanks to the dedicated and inspirational teaching staff.

Although some years ago I had a period in Further Education as a Senior Lecturer at an Agricultural College, for the majority of my working life I have been involved in Farm and Estate Management, both practically and as a consultant.  I hope that my contribution to the Governing Body benefits from some of this management experience.

As someone who has personally benefitted from a good education, it is my hope that through the ethos and inspiration of St. Elizabeth's and a love for learning, pupils will be provided with the foundation and motivation for their further education and personal development which will benefit them in later life.

Mrs. L Kesseler – Staff Governor (September 2013)

Having been a pupil myself at St Elizabeth’s School, I was delighted to be appointed as a Teacher in 2008. Since joining the school I have taught in both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two and I am also now a member of the Senior Leadership Team in addition to working as the schools Special Educational Needs Team Leader.

I became a member of the Governing body in September 2013 and feel privileged to be able to serve in this very important role. I am proud to work at our school and to serve the Parishes of St John the Baptist, Tamworth and St Michael & St James, Haunton. I hope that I will be able to use my experience in order to make a difference to our school family.

Mrs. J McSweeney – Co-opted Governor (membership for over 14 years)

I work as a Teaching Assistant and have worked within St Elizabeth’s School for 25 over years. Both my children attended the both the Pre School and St Elizabeth’s School, continuing their education at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Technology College in Aldridge. I love working as a Teaching Assistant at the school and also provide guidance and coaching to members of the School Council enabling the children to have a voice in all aspects of school life. I am also the Chair of the Friends of St Elizabeth’s (Parent Teacher Association) raising money to help give children a greater experience with the extra’s that the PTA provide.

I have also been part of St John’s Parish all of my life and enjoying creating the flower displays within church and am a member of the Union of Catholic Mothers.

I am immensely proud to be part of this wonderful school, working with the children, staff and parents to make our school the best it can be.
