Each year children in Year 5 are invited to apply to become a Minister of Faith, applications are then considered, and children are appointed. This involves supporting whichever classes mass it is by backing readings, holding the microphone, helping with Offertory procession, during Holy Communion time and evaluating how mass has gone. Last year the Ministers of Faith visited St. Gabriel’s as part of an exercise involving all four Catholic local partnership schools (LTCPS) to discover how they were approaching Collective Worship. We are now developing this area by introducing MINISTERS OF MUSIC. Currently this is open to pupils in Year 6. We hope that this will enhance our acts of worship and whole school Masses. Please find a picture of our Ministers of Faith for 2018/19.
Fr. Michael attended a Ministers of Faith meeting on the 18th September to support the Ministers in developing their role in mass. Please click the link to view the Minutes of this meeting.
As part of the democratic process each year 2 children from each class put themselves forward and are then elected to become Virtues Ambassadors by their peers. They represent their class by promoting the Virtues for that half term, through Collective Worship and by being a good example to their class and the whole school. Everybody is looking forward to the responsibility and takes their job really seriously. Our team is run by Mrs Bernstein. Please find a picture of our Virtues Team for 2018/19.
