Prayer partners

Starting school can be daunting and to help this transition, we pair up a Year 6 child with our Reception children. We call these special friends our 'Prayer Partners'. 

We find it helps them to know that when they are out at playtimes there is always a friendly face around if they need help or someone to play with. They have opportunities to help each other with their learning; Year 6 may come down to help reception log onto a computer, read together, share enrichment opportunities like Chinese New Year or even have time to colour or draw with them! 

They also sit together during assembly or Mass and Prayer Partners model how we sit and behave during whole school celebrations. They build a very special bond over the year and both the Year 6 and Reception children love time spent with their special friend! 

                            

Outdoor Play

Our reception class enjoy spending time in our garden area. We love to bring our learning outside with a range of fun activities designed to help us learn while we play! 

                                                      

Gardening

Our reception class have been learning how to plant flowers. We love to water them and watch them grow!

 

Counting Skills

We put our counting skills to the test in a variety of different ways. We love to take part in counting activities which relate to our current class topics.

 

Word Skills

We love to learn new words in Reception! We use our Phoneme skills to help us to identify words which match with their pictures. 

 

Creative Play

We love to get creative using our artistic skills to paint!

 

Mark Making 

We are getting very good at using our pencil grip to draw patterns, our hands are getting very strong!

Water Play 

We have lots of fun learning about different animals using water and ice.
