Modern foreign languages

Through the modern foreign languages curriculum, we aim for pupils to:

-foster an interest in learning other languages,

-gain experience of speaking, listening, writing and reading in another language,

-develop an awareness and interest in the culture of another country,

-lay foundations for future language studies.

Implementation - French is taught weekly throughout KS2. Through the lessons, pupils will have many opportunities to listen to and speak the language before developing skills of reading and writing.  Pupils will also be introduced to important festivals and have other cultural experiences linked to French speaking countries.
