Music

Music at St. Elizabeth’s

Through the music curriculum we aim to:

-promote a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of different forms of music,

-allow all children to experience a broad range of musical activities using voices, tuned and untuned instruments,

-develop pupils’ skills in composing, performing and evaluating music,

-support pupils to identify and nurture individual skills and talents,

-understand the significance of music culturally, socially and traditionally,

-use music as a medium for collective worship.

Implementation: Music is taught by class teachers using our school progression of skills. Music lessons are as practical as possible and pupils have many opportunities to experiment with different instruments including their own voices.  Pupils experience music regularly through collective worship and are encouraged to understand the significance of music within worship at school, in church and beyond.  Pupils in KS2 have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument during curriculum music lessons and parents are able to purchase additional keyboard lessons though an external provider.
