Our Catholic Life
The Catholic life of our school is central to all we do at St. Elizabeth’s.
Our mission statement reflects our dedication to the teachings of Christ.
"We listen, learn and grow with Jesus"
St Elizabeth’s is a Catholic school with Christ’s teachings at the heart of all we do.
"May the children of the Church be like olive branches around the table of our Lord".
Prayer partners
Our children enjoy sharing their faith with others. One of the most important jobs in school is to become a Prayer Partner. Our Year 6 pupils are paired with Reception children to support them in Masses, Celebration of the Word Gift from God assemblies and child-led prayer & liturgy.
To support Year 6 in their sacramental year of Confirmation, each Confirmandi is paired with a prayer partner from the parish, to help guide and fortify their understanding of their faith going forward.
Whole school retreat day
Dan and Emily from 'One Life Music' visited us in the Summer term for a whole school retreat day, "Let All Creation Sing". They inspired us to be stewards of creation just like St Francis of Assisi.
Community work
Caring for God's wonderful world is so important to our children. Our school council and Laudato Si team worked closely with Tamworth sustainability group to carry out a litter pick in our local area. They met with Councillor Richard Kingstone to share their concerns about the amount of litter and lack of bins.
Alton Castle residential
Our year 5 children take part in a Catholic residential retreat at Alton castle every year. The theme of our retreat this year was 'Follow'. It helped us reflect on our mission to be everyday disciples and follow the examples of saints and strengthened our faith in preparation for our Confirmation in year 6.
Links with schools in India
Nivedita Mukerjee visited the school and told our children all about the VIDYA school in India. She shared with us how pupils who come from severely undeserved socio-economic sections of society are sponsored in order to be empowered with education at VIDYA school. Our Ministers of Faith and Virtues team are thinking of ways our school can support them.
We look forward to sharing more of our experiences soon.
